One by one, or all alone
The bird a-waits inside the nest
It feels so safe, it might feel strong
Until the monster will come to harm
What can they do but choose to jump
No prior knowledge of how to fly
They will flap their wings like from what they’ve seen
And might realize soon what they needed is gone
It might feel like the longest fall
That their thoughts and breaths will be left behind
They might feel there is no hope
For another chance to learn how to fly
But to open their eyes, to try again and again
The help of another could lift them up
Make them feel as if they are always safe
And can teach them how to learn to fly
The bird a-waits inside the nest
It feels so safe, it might feel strong
Until the monster will come to harm
What can they do but choose to jump
No prior knowledge of how to fly
They will flap their wings like from what they’ve seen
And might realize soon what they needed is gone
It might feel like the longest fall
That their thoughts and breaths will be left behind
They might feel there is no hope
For another chance to learn how to fly
But to open their eyes, to try again and again
The help of another could lift them up
Make them feel as if they are always safe
And can teach them how to learn to fly
